About the Author & Publisher

Mark Andrews collects and researches rare books regarding applied science and civil engineering. As a collector, he is specifically interested in the books’ graphics and drawings. His collection holds over 7,000 printed books from the period of incunables up to 1910, with an emphasis on the early modern period. The documents of early engineering take many forms; as a result, the collection also holds manuscripts, very early construction photography, maps, working drawings and engineering instruments. In addition to the core collection, Mark also collects designed books exhibiting a wide range of unconventional binding materials and a collection of early editions of Euclid’s Elements.

Mark formed AE Publications in 2020 to begin production of a series of catalogues to document the literature of early engineering. The series is planned to follow the two founding themes of engineering: the science and engineering of water (fluid mechanics) and the science and engineering of materials (mechanics and structures).

Mark is also the founder and Chief Consulting Engineer of Andrews.engineer located in Toronto, Canada. He has over forty years of consulting engineering experience in the field of municipal infrastructure. He is an expert in linear asset management and sewer operations with particular experience managing and directing large value, multi-year sewer infrastructure renewal programs. Mark has been responsible for project delivery to municipal, institutional, and private sector clients across Canada and around the world.
